Michael Marrano is more than a certified cybersecurity expert, educator and entertaining speaker; he is also a real-world technology and information security practitioner who has been honing his skills for the last three decades. Michael is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with experience in consulting and executive business leadership roles. Michael obtained his undergraduate in Criminal Justice and a graduate degree in Cyber and Homeland Security at Fairleigh Dickenson University (NJ)

Husband, father, and brother are some of Michael’s titles that radiate his protective nature. A lifelong New Yorker with a self-proclaimed balance of book, street, and common-sense smarts makes his presentations both educational and entertaining and his war stories relatable. Today Michael provides high-touch technology and information security consulting services to corporate and personal clients, small business owners, financial institutions, start-ups and anywhere else the “crown jewels” need protecting.

Michael began developing his security skill set in the mid-1990s while working in physical security and studying Security and the Criminal Justice system at St. John's University. Even during his college years, Michael was a proactive thinker and planner who had already performed the necessary steps to enter law enforcement after graduation. A delay in his law enforcement career pursuits ultimately changed his career path forever.

Curiosity and a desire to know how stuff works attracted Michael to technology and ultimately a career that already spans three decades. As a self-taught technologist, Michael’s career and skills have taken him to Fortune 500 companies, the most significant financial trading floors in the world and through the career ranks to executive level positions such as Managing Director, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). 

Michael is dedicated to educating and creating awareness about technology and cybersecurity benefits and risks. While in the consulting sector, he recognized the need to empower people to be better prepared to confidently handle cybersecurity threats, create and manage strong information security programs, and understand ever-changing regulations at the corporate and personal level. Michael is a Human firewall builder using his enhanced cybersecurity awareness and survivability programs to defend corporate and personal assets in the face of the ever-increasing threat of cyber-attacks.
